Choosing the name “Valkyrie” for his company was an easy decision for founder Gary Lisota. He recalls, “’The Vikings’ (starring Kirk Douglas) was the first movie I saw in a theatre with my Dad and from there my love for all things Viking was born.” When deciding upon a name for his new venture in 2007, “Valkyrie Enterprises” was the obvious choice to reflect his life-long Viking passion and warrior spirit. The Viking helmet, a central part of the company’s branding since 2008, was also selected because of its similarity to one worn in the film and is on display at the company’s Corporate Headquarters in Virginia Beach. Other Viking memorabilia on display include additional helmets, battle swords and axes, and replica shields.
